On Memorial Day, 2000 (May 29) I was traveling back to Mass. after spending the weekend at my Mom’s (the usual Memorial Day scene — burnt ground up dead cow, etc.) and I took some pictures at the Albany-Rensselaer, NY station during the layover of the Late For Sure, er. Lake Shore Limited. Here are the pictures.
A couple of the engines sitting outside of Amtrak’s engine service facility at Albany-Rensselaer, NY.
Now for some action: first we take off the Chicago <=> Boston
engines (a Genesis and a F40PH):

Now we hook up a 700-series Genesis to the NYC section:
Here it comes!
Now we "split the train":

Now for some shots of the RoadRailers on the tail end:

Now for some additional shots of the train:
View from the rear: the Chicago <=> Boston MHC, the Boston baggage car, and the Boston sleeper. The Amfleet-2 coaches are barely visible ahead of the sleeper.
